Artificial intelligence (AI) is profoundly impacting society, the world of work, and education. Within higher education, a grand challenge has emerged between embracing AI to prepare students for life beyond college and rejecting AI as a threat to student learning and academic integrity. How has higher education responded to this grand challenge, and what lies ahead as AI technologies and practices evolve? This session will present the current AI landscape in higher education, detail the varied responses colleges and universities have adopted thus far, and suggest paths forward for educational institutions as they contemplate and implement the next steps throughout 2025 and beyond.
